​​​​Designed to build upon the principles and concepts taught in the Leap 'n Learn dance program,

students will begin barre education and continue center floor practice and combinations suited for age and ability.

Creative movement concepts continue to be taught. In addition to this,

movement patterns and emphasis on correct steps and placement are taught.

Our goal is to develop a disciplined dancer while developing body strength, self assurance, poise and grace.​


Primary Ballet Age 7-8: A Leap 'n Learn Program

In the Primary Ballet level, dancers will transition from the Early Childhood Program into the study of Classical Ballet technique. In this level, students will begin working at the barre in turned out positions with more arm and head movements. The format is similar to a traditional ballet class while meeting the developmental needs of children in this age range with more formal technique and continuing creative movement exercises as well. This ballet class meets once a week.
REQUIREMENTS
Age 7 to 8, (6 by teacher placement only), attend at least one class per week, follow specific dress code

Attire for girls is the class assigned leotard in PURPLE, with 
ballet pink ballet tights, and pink leather ballet slippers with no drawstring. 

Attire for boys is WHITE OR PURPLE short-sleeved leotard, flesh-toned ballet tights and white or flesh-toned

ballet slippers. All attire is obtained through Rockland School of Ballet.

SCHEDULE


Primary Tap Dance Ages 7-8:  

An introductory level class designed to teach the basics of tap dance. Students will learn important dance technique. Music will be appropriate to the style and genre. Students interested in this class will also take Primary Ballet. Precedes the Ballet Class.

Primary Contemporary/Jazz Dance Ages 7-8:  

An introductory level class designed to teach the basics of jazz dance movement. Students will learn important dance technique as well as various dance styles. Music will be varied in style and genre with careful attention paid to the more modern music for lyric content. Students interested in this class must also take Primary Ballet.

Follows the Tap Class.

Junior Ballet (Age 8 - 15): 

A beginner and intermediate junior ballet class. Designed to build upon the principles and concepts taught in the Leap 'n Learn dance program, students will continue classical ballet technique and continue learning creative movement concepts. Emphasis is on correct posture, French terminology, and musicality in this dance class.  
REQUIREMENTS
Age 8-13, attend at least one class per week, follow specific dress code

Attire for girls is the class assigned leotard in FOREST GREEN, ballet pink convertible ballet tights, and pink leather ballet slippers 

with or without drawstring. 

Attire for boys is WHITE OR FOREST short-sleeved leotard, flesh-toned ballet tights and white or

flesh-toned ballet slippers.


All attire is obtained through Rockland School of Ballet.

Students will learn important dance technique. Music will be appropriate to the style and genre. Students interested in this class will also take Junior Ballet.



Jazz Dance Age 8-15:  
This class is designed to build more basics of contemporary and jazz dance movement. Students will learn important dance technique as well as various dance styles. Music will be varied in style and genre with careful attention paid to the more modern music for lyric content. Students interested in this class must also take Junior Ballet. Follows the Tap Class. Friday* 5:45 - 6:30     *NOTE: No Class 1st Friday of Month - Class meets 4th Saturday of Month at 9:00 AM due to the omission.

Junior Ballet – Int/Adv (Ages 10-15): 

An intermediate/advanced junior ballet class designed with more challenging barre work and across the floor combinations. A stronger emphasis will be put on technique and terminology, musicality and correct alignment. 

REQUIREMENTS
Age 10 - 15, Recreational dancers attend at least one class per week, serious dancers attend 2, preferably 3 classes per week, follow specific dress code

Attire for girls is the class assigned leotard in TURQUOISE, ballet pink convertible ballet tights, and pink leather ballet slippers with or without drawstring. 

Attire for boys is WHITE leotard, short-sleeved leotard, flesh-toned ballet tights and white or flesh-toned ballet slippers.

All attire is obtained through Rockland School of Ballet.
